Objectives
Overview

Low-cost and versatile damping analysis system consisting of AD conversion boards and FFT analysis package software

Analysis of vibrations is required in research and development of an "active damping system" that minimizes the shaking of buildings due to earthquakes and winds. Previously, research was conducted using costly digital memory and analyzers but handling of data was difficult because of a nonstandard data format. Therefore, a measurement system, both inexpensive and versatile, has been developed using PCs and A/D boards. This system, used for waveform display of sensor signals, signal analysis processing, etc. is contributing to the research and development of vibration control systems.

Features
The solution
  • Detect the shaking status of a building using sensors.
  • Download the sensor signals via an A/D board into a PC.
  • Display the signal data as waveforms on the monitor and save it to a file.
  • Conduct FFT analysis on the uploaded data using the analysis software to check the frequency characteristics.
  • Additionally, conduct more detailed analysis processing on another computer system that has been in use.
  • Since the data storage format can be easily set on a PC, data will be easy to handle and can be processed immediately on other computers.
  • Since FFT analysis can be conducted using the analysis software, uploaded data can be checked on a PC immediately.
  • This system is less costly and more versatile than purpose-built measuring equipment.
