Objectives
Overview

The adoption of a long-distance outdoor wireless LAN system enables remote monitoring and control, improving time efficiency and and realizing labor saving.

The use of long-distance wireless LAN for monitoring of conditions in water tanks (such as water temperature, quality, and level) enables real-time collection of periodical observation data and emergency observation data in a remote office. Additionally, remote control is also provided. Previously, a certain level of automatic control was provided for water tanks using the PLC. However, a person in charge had to go down to the underground control rooms of water tanks in order to collect data and take emergency action. This system has improved time efficiency and reduced required personnel.

Features
The solution
  • An office and multiple water tank control rooms located at a distance are connected with a long-distance outdoor wireless LAN (FLEXLAN series).
  • Periodical observation and emergency observation data is collected on a real-time basis and automatically accumulated.
  • Control of water tanks can be conducted from a remote office
  • This system enables to keep track of the conditions in water tanks (such as water temperature, quality, and level) on a real-time basis at a remote office.
  • The opening and closing of valves of water tanks can be controlled from a remote office, improving operational efficiency and and realizing labor saving.
