Vehicle Management System Provides Support for Garbage Collection Orders and Operations
TAIHEI KOGYO CO., LTD., a leading engineering firm, designed a vehicle management system for a garbage collection company. This unified management system provides graphic customer information, collection / dumping reports and charts requests for garbage collection by government or industry on the system's map. CONTEC's BX80x series industrial PC is mounted in each vehicle to display accurate, updated schedules, routes and collection points. By connecting with the cell phone network this system allows on-demand collections to be scheduled and integrated into the driver's regular route. The vehicle's collection status and request responses can be transmitted to the main office at any time allowing the timely issuance of non-routine invoices.

Enhanced customer security |
Increased processing capability |
|
Customer information is managed in the control center, not in the vehicle, eliminating the risk of loss of information due to theft of an on-board computer |
The increased processing capability of the on-board computer allows multiple sets of information to be displayed. Along with the collection route map it is also possible to display detailed information about a collection point, access available at the time of the collection and any important information concerning the customer. Even a driver unfamiliar with a route can navigate it easily and efficiently using the information supplied by the control center. |
Reduction of driver generated paperwork
|
Communication between vehicles
|
|
At the end of their shift drivers would often work overtime in order to finish daily collection reports. This vehicle management system generates real-time progress and results reports eliminating the cost generated by overtime paid to the drivers. |
If a driver is, for some reason, unable to complete his route then the remainder of the collection points can be redistributed to the other vehicles. Additions to routes and specific collection points can then be transmitted to the appropriate drivers. |
