About the shift to the Lead-free Products

At CONTEC, we have been encouraging Lead-free products to utilize the resources as well as for the protection of global environment. As part of such efforts, we have already started the sales of lead-free products which inherit the features of our conventional models. We hope that you will be able to transit to lead-free products in your work environment as soon as possible.

Notes in transition to Lead-free products

When using CONTEC driver software API-PAC(W32)

For all products: For installation, please use the driver software included with the lead-free products, or download the latest version from our website. If the current models are installed in your computer, you need to install the new models with the same settings as you made in the current models.
PIO-32/32B(PCI)V
PIO-32/32T(PCI)H
When using digital filter functions:

Since the setting values of a digital filter are differ. A setting value needs to be changed.

Please refer to "Changes made to digital filter".

AD12-16(PCI)EV
AD16-16(PCI)EV
If you are using Half-full interruption function with API-AIO(98/PC) driver:

Since buffer memory has increased from 256K to 16M, time between Analog Input Start and Half-full event takes longer than the previous models. You will need to change your application if the delay becomes a problem.

When using other OS, without using the driver software of our company, such as MS-DOS

For all products

Device ID has been changed. You will need to change your application program when your application has an automatic recognition of the resources (I/O address, IRQ) function.

Please refer to "List of Device ID".

PIO-32/32B(PCI)V
PIO-32/32T(PCI)H
When using these functions, you need to change the application setting accordingly.

I/O map has been changed for the following functions from their previous models.

On Hand shake function

Hand shake function is not contained on the Lead-free products.

For more details, please refer to Technical Reference. Technical Reference is available from our website.

Hardware setting

Jumper settings for analog input range and analog output range of new products are different from those of the conventional products. For further information, please refer to manuals of each product.

Supplementary explanation

Replacing the driver software

1
Confirm settings of the current product's hardware

Note the present setting so that you can use them in the new product.
For API-xxx(WDM):
Start device manager and note the device name from properties.
For API-xxx(98/PC):
Start API-TOOL configuration and note the device name and group No.
Delete the registered setting in the current models after you have the information above.

2
Replacing hardware

Checking the set contents of old product. Please start API-TOOL Configuration and refrain from a setup of the old product.

3
Installing hardware

Turn on the PC. Follow the instruction from the OS (Hardware Wizard) and start installation using the CD included with the new product.
Refer to the manual of the new product for the installation procedures.

4
Installing driver software

Use CDs included with the new product for installing the driver or download the latest version of the driver software from our website.
Refer to the manual of the new product for the installation procedures.

5
Hardware setting

Please start API-TOOL Configuration and copy the settings from step(1).
