Contec Co. Ltd., a manufacturer of PC-based instrument interfaces and industrial computers, has added English and Chinese versions to its "ACTIVE TOUCH (product name)" range of multi-function/multi-use programmable display units. Models that operate with a 12VDC power supply and isolated 24VDC power supply have also been added for the Japanese, English, and Chinese versions. This major boost to the product range meets the demand for DC (direct current) power supplies and for global language support for sites located overseas or that require English or Chinese language display.  In addition to strengthening the product range, functionality has also been significantly enhanced. Portrait screen orientation and web camera support have been added, together with improved ease-of use for the screen and script editing software.  In addition to the 16 new models being released at this time, the ACTIVE TOUCH series product range consists of 18 models in total. These are categorized by language (Japanese, English, or Chinese), LCD size (10.4 inch or 12.1 inch), and input power supply type (AC, DC12V, isolated DC24V)  Since its first release, the ACTIVE TOUCH series has earned an excellent reputation as an intelligent IT operation and display terminal. Features that include a web browser, audio/video player, and similar functions built-in as standard display elements have seen the devices used in a wide range of different applications. Coinciding with the expansion of the product range, significant enhancements in functionality have also been added, including extensions to the display and edit functions and additional supported devices. The new range is ready to be applied in a wide range of fields as a new-generation programmable display unit that is multi-functional, easy-to-use, and flexible.

[ Key New Functions ] Portrait screen orientation allows the unit to be adapted flexibly to system requirements In addition to the standard landscape screen orientation, the ACTIVE TOUCH now supports portrait orientation also. You can select the screen orientation to suit the needs of your system. 12.1" TFT color (SVGA) model    HPC-HLS10 series : Landscape 800 x 600, Portrait 600 x 800 10.4" TFT color (VGA) model      HPC-HMV10 series : Landscape 640 x 480, Portrait 480 x 640 Supports web cameras from various different vendors and can display images in realtime Multiple web cameras can be connected via Ethernet and the images received and displayed in realtime. On web cameras that support operations such as pan, tilt, zoom, and brightness adjustment, these can be operated remotely. The ACTIVE TOUCH can be used as a monitoring unit showing the status of equipment or of various facilities such as event halls or meeting rooms, and the web camera images being fed from remote locations can be selected using touch panel operation. Supports popup window display A window of any size can be displayed on top of the current screen. This can be used to display a calculator, ID and password entry screen, warning messages, and similar. Standard display components and pasted images can be shown, hidden, moved, and resized while the system is operating eStep (tree-format script) can be used to show, hide, move, and resize display components and pasted images. You can create even more dynamic screens by, for example, hiding or moving a display component in response to a change in the status of external equipment. The background of a display component can be made transparent The background color of a display component can be set to transparent. This feature is particularly useful when using display components such as sliders and meters on top of other display components or images (JPEGs, bitmaps, etc.) because it can hide the background which would otherwise obscure the image. CONTEC PCI bus serial communication boards can be used The two standard serial port channels can be extended by installing CONTEC RS-232C, RS-422A, or RS-485 PCI bus serial communication boards to provide a maximum of nine channels. (Requires an expansion unit [IPC-PAC(PCI)-C1] to be purchased separately.) As raw serial communications are supported, these can be used to operate and display data from audio and broadcast systems, lighting equipment controllers, instruments, and other devices. New trend graph supports high-speed display The "high performance trend graph" has been added to the library of standard components. This meets the need to display measurement data graphically at high speed. Supports I/O connected via 100BASE-TX with minimal cabling requirements (F&eIT I/O controller unit) The ACTIVE TOUCH now supports the new CONTEC F&eIT series of high-speed remote I/O products (I/O controller) that operate via 100BASE-TX. You can use the F&eIT series in conjunction with the ACTIVE TOUCH to capture analog and digital signals. This simplifies centralized control of equipment that is spread over a wide area. The high degree of compatibility between these two products means that an F&eIT series device can be registered in ACTIVE TOUCH automatically and used immediately.
