New Series of Fan-Less Panel and BOX Computers for Embedded
Applications that Use the 400MHz Ultra Low Power Celeron CPU

Contec Co. Ltd., a manufacturer of PC-based instrument interfaces and industrial computers, has developed new "Panel Computer" and "BOX computer" products aimed at embedded applications that feature fan-less operation and use the 400MHz Ultra Low Power Celeron CPU. The new series are called the "Panel Computer IPC-PT 620 Series" and "BOX Computer IPC-BX 620 Series", and will be released progressively commencing in July.
The IPC 620 series use the 400MHz Intel® Ultra Low Power Celeron CPU, a new embedded CPU featuring excellent performance with ultra low power consumption. The Intel® 815E chipset is also designed for embedded applications. The series supports a wide range of interfaces including CardBus slots, USB, 100BASE-TX, IDE(ATA/100), RS-232C/422/485, AC97 audio, and PCU/ISA slots (CP model only). The new series deliver excellent performance and their capacity for adding additional functions makes them suitable for a wide range of different uses. These include IT data terminal applications that require realtime video and sound playback as well as traditional FA (factory automation) controller and PA (process automation) applications. The IPC-BOX620 series includes a DVI video output. The display screen on the IPC-PT620 series is a 15 inch (or 12.1 inch) high-intensity TFT color LCD (with internal DVI connection) with a touch panel input function. The IP65 dust proof and waterproof construction means you can confidently use the devices as data terminals in FA (factory automation) systems.
The device components include an embedded CPU and chipset that provide high reliability and long term supply availability, and a BIOS (Phoenix BIOS) which has been customized for CONTEC's use. This careful selection of device components together with CONTEC's optimized production systems means the quality and long term availability of the device is assured, both critical requirements in embedded applications.
The external appearance and installation dimensions are compatible with CONTEC's existing IPC 600 series (400MHz Low Power Celeron) and the higher-end IPC 630 series (800MHz Low Power Pentium III) which are already on sale. Because the housing size and screw locations are the same, the different series can be interchanged easily.
The price range for the new series has also been held down to a similar level to that of the IPC 600 series.
