New Compact PCI Bus CPU Board Uses the Low Power

Contec Co. Ltd., a manufacturer of PC-based instrument interfaces and industrial computers, has developed a new compact CPU board for embedded applications. The board supports the PCI bus and uses the low power consumption 1.1GHz Intel® Pentium® M CPU. [Product name: Half-Size, PCI Bus, Single-Board Computer Model: SPC-8550-LV]. The new board goes on sale from October 25.
The SPC-8550-LV is a compact IBM PC/AT compatible CPU board for the PCI bus. The board uses the Intel 855GME + ICH4 chipset, a 1.1GHz Pentium M CPU, and supports a maximum main memory of 1GB of PC2700 DDR SDRAM with ECC. The Pentium M CPU is renowned for delivering excellent performance with low heat dissipation and low power consumption, and features a CPU core operating voltage of only 1.18V. The board is suitable for a wide range of high-performance applications including HMIs that incorporate high-quality video and audio, advanced graphics processing, broadband support, and other advanced functions.
The video output is a DV-I interface which supports high-quality LCD display with low distortion (an analog RGB conversion adapter is included). Dual-screen operation with combined digital and analog output can also be supported using a splitter cable (DVI-I -> DVI-D + analog RGB) which is sold separately.
Despite being a small half-size (185(L) x 122(H) mm) board, a full set of standard features are provided, including 1 x 100BASE-TX LAN, 2 x USB 1.1, serial, EIDE and PS/2 interfaces, and a watchdog timer and hardware monitor RAS function. AC97 compliant sound and serial port functions can be added by installing a separately purchased option board (ATCA-1).
