New High-Voltage Boards Support 24 to 48VDC Circuits

Contec Co. Ltd., a manufacturer of PC-based instrument interfaces and industrial computers, has developed and commenced sale of the [PIO-32/32H(PCI)H and PIO-16/16H(PCI)H PCI Bus, Opto-Isolated, Digital I/O Boards]. These new opto-isolated digital I/O boards for the PCI bus can support 24 to 48VDC high-voltage circuits and are suitable for use as components in PC-based instrument control systems.
The PIO-32/32H(PCI)H has 32 input and 32 output channels. The PIO-16/16H(PCI)H has 16 input and 16 output channels.
As the 42VDC power supply systems used in fuel cell based clean energy applications in the automotive industry start entering practical use, the use of circuit designs that operate with higher voltages than past 12 to 24VDC systems will increase. This will lead to a similar increase in the demand for PC-based instrument control systems able to operate in this higher voltage range.
The PIO-32/32H(PCI)H and PIO-16/16H(PCI)H satisfy this demand. These digital signal I/O interface boards for the PCI bus and can perform digital I/O of signals in the range 24 to 48VDC.
The two boards are sold complete with driver software for both Windows and Linux [product code: API-PAC(W32)] and application software can be developed using programming languages such as Visual Basic or Visual C++ on Windows, and gcc or Kylix2 on Linux

- Corresponding to the high voltages (24 to 48VDC) I/O.
- A different external power supply can be used for each common pin as it is shared by 16 channels.
- The PCI bus (personal computer) and the I/O interface are isolated from each other by an opto-coupler, offering good noise immunity.
- You can use 32 signal channels of the input signals as interrupt inputs.
You can also select the interrupt trigger edge of the input signal.
- The board has a digital filter feature to prevent noise or chatter from causing erroneous inputs.
- Up to 60VDC, 100mA per signal, max. output.
- Zener diode connected to output transistors for protection from surge voltage. Overcurrent protective device provided for every eight channels of output transistors.

- Driver Software Library API-PAC(W32) (Bundled)
API-PAC(W32) is the library software that provides the commands for CONTEC hardware products in the form of Windows standard Win32 API functions (DLL). It makes it easy to create high-speed application software taking advantage of the CONTEC hardware using various programming languages that support Win32 API functions, such as Visual Basic and Visual C/C++.
It can also be used by the installed diagnosis program to check hardware operations.
CONTEC provides download services at (http://www.contec.com/download/) to supply the updated drivers and differential files
- Linux version of analog I/O driver API-AIO(LNX)
(Supplied: Stored on the API-PAC(W32) CD-ROM)
This driver is used to control CONTEC analog I/O boards (cards) from within Linux.
You can control CONTEC I/O boards easily using the shared library used by gcc, the device driver (module) for each kernel version, and the board (card) configuration program (config).
