Contec Co. Ltd., a manufacturer of PC-based instrument interfaces and industrial computers, has developed the new PIO-48D(CB)H "Non-Isolated, Bi-Directional Digital I/O Card for CardBus", a CardBus compliant PC card for the bi-directional I/O of LVTTL level (3.3VDC) digital signals. The card is suitable for use as a component in PC-based instrument control systems.
The PIO-48D(CB)H is a CardBus PC card that complies with the PC Card Standard and is used to add a digital I/O function for LVTTL level (3.3VDC) signals to a PC. The card can be used on notebook PCs and similar that have a CardBus compatible PC Card slot.
The operation is equivalent two i8255 (mode 0) parallel I/O ICs and supports a maximum of 48 I//O points. The points can be set as inputs or outputs by software (by issuing a control word).
The digital input function includes an "interrupt control function" to request interrupt processing by the PC when an input signal changes, and a "digital filter function" to prevent invalid inputs due to noise or chattering.
Windows and Linux driver software [Model No.: API-PAC(W32)] (CD-ROM) is included with the card and application software development is also supported through various programming languages such as Visual Basic and Visual C/C++ on Windows or gcc and Kylix2 on Linux.
Connection cables are available as an option and you can select a cable that suits your requirements. The DIO-68M/96F shielded cable is available if using an intermediate terminal block, and the PCA68PS-**P laminated and shielded ribbon-cable is available if connecting directly without an intermediate terminal block or if using your own connector.
The PIO-48D(CB)H is functionally equivalent to the existing PIO-48D(PCI) PCI board. When the DIO-68M/96F option cable is used, the connector shape and pin assignments are the same as when using the PIO-48D(PCI) with a PCB96PS-**P option cable, and the same terminal and other accessories can be used.
