Contec Co. Ltd., a manufacturer of PC peripherals, industrial computers, and network equipment, has developed and commenced sales of the compact IPC-BX/M10DC5-4E model, the smallest computer in the company's BOX-PC® series that are sold with the Windows CE embedded operating system pre-installed.  The IPC-BX/M10DC5-4E uses a 240MHz SH-4 RISC chip as its CPU, runs the Windows CE .NET 4.2 operating system, and features a high-speed loading function utilizing technology from XIP and CONTEC that can boot the system from the power-off state in as little as ten seconds.  Standard features include an internal audio function for use with external stereo speakers and a range of expansion interfaces such as a USB port, 10/100BASE-TX, PCMCIA, and RS-232C.  The computer also comes with a range of special CONTEC features including the "CONTEC Manager (pre-installed)" utility software that supports both the development and operation phases with features such as scheduling, FTP server operation, autorun and boot, the "NF Disk" function that allows the internal Flash ROM (32MB approx.) to be used like a disk, and a registry and object store backup function.  The computer can be used in a wide range of applications where it offers a flexible platform with a large high-resolution screen, high-speed processing, high-speed communications, and support for extended functions.
