Contec Co. Ltd., a manufacturer of PC peripherals, industrial computers, and network equipment, has developed and commenced sales of the GP-IB(LPCI)FL, a low-cost, high-speed GPIB communications board for low profile PCI slots. The new model is an addition to the "GPIB Communication Interface, F Series" range. Since its first appearance, this range has been highly regarded for its extensive features and fast 1.5Mbyte/sec communications.
The "GPIB Communication Interface, F Series" are a range of GPIB communication adapters that comply with the IEEE488.1 and IEEE488.2 standards and that use a sophisticated, high-speed GPIB controller developed by CONTEC (µPD7210 equivalent). The series features a wide range of functions aimed at meeting user needs, including a fast maximum communication speed of 1.5Mbyte/sec, bus master transfer function, serial polling event function (SPAS), control monitor function, and high-precision application timer.
Further, the high-end models (GP-IB(PCI)F, GP-IB(LPCI)F, GP-IB(CPCI)F, and GP-IB(CB)F) feature a "bus analyzer function" that buffers changes in the bus line state and enables fault identification and bus line monitoring to be performed using a special-purpose tool.
The new GP-IB(LPCI)FL model being released at this time is suitable for compact desktop PCs that use Low Profile PCI slots. Aimed at meeting the demand for low to medium priced products, the GP-IB(LPCI)FL does not include the "bus analyzer function".

As the card complies with the IEEE-488.2 standard, you can control any external device that supports this standard
- Data transfer speed 1.5Mbyte/sec max.
The maximum data transfer speed for communications is 1.5Mbyte/sec.
- Supports bus master operation
The bus master data transfer function enables large quantities of data to be transferred between the board and PC without loading the CPU.
- Internal 2Kbyte FIFO buffers for send and receive
The board has separate 2Kbyte FIFO buffers for sending and receiving data, allowing both small and large volumes of data to be transferred at high speed.
Interface messages also use a FIFO to enable high-speed transmission.
- Built-in SPAS event function
In addition to the functions of the earlier GPIB controller (µPD7210), the board also supports the SPAS event generated when a serial poll occurs. This gives you a high level of flexibility in constructing your system.
- Internal high-precision timer
The board includes a high-precision application timer to allow accurate time monitoring to be performed under Windows.
- Long term availability
As the board uses a high-speed GPIB controller developed by CONTEC (upwardly compatible with the µPD7210), reliable long term availability is ensured.
- Diagnostic program
A diagnostic program is supplied to support system development. The diagnostic program can be used to check hardware operation (interrupts and I/O addresses) and to perform simple communication tests with connected devices.

- Driver Software Library API-PAC(W32) (Bundled)
Driver software that provides standard Windows Win32 API type routines for issuing commands to CONTEC hardware.
High-speed application programs that take advantage of the features of CONTEC's hardware can be developed using programming languages that support Win32 API routines such as Visual Basic and Visual C/C++.

- GPIB Communication Driver for LabVIEW API-GPLV(W32)
(Included in the supplied API-PAC(W32) CD-ROM)
The API-GPLV(W32) driver was developed based on the "National Instruments-style" GPIB routines.
This software can be used with GPIB systems that operate under LabVIEW and to control CONTEC GPIB boards using existing applications.
