32-Bit Counter Board Added to the Low Profile PCI Series

CNT32-4MT(LPCI)

 Contec Co. Ltd., a manufacturer of PC peripherals, industrial computers, and network equipment, has developed and commenced sales of the "4ch, High-Speed, 32-Bit Up/Down Counter Board (TTL Inputs) for Low Profile PCI (model: CNT32-4MT(LPCI))". This counter board can be installed in Low Profile PCI slots, can count a high-speed pulse input signal, and is completely lead free (Phase 2 and above).

 The CNT32-4MT(LPCI) counter board incorporates four 32-bit up/down counter channels and can be installed in Low Profile PCI slots, making the board suitable for thin rack-mounted PCs, compact desktop PCs, and other small PCs in which only Low Profile type PCI expansion slots are available. (An alternative standard PCI slot bracket is also supplied. The board can be used in standard PCI slots simply by changing the bracket.)

 In response to the demand for higher quality and increased complexity in measurement equipment and in applications such as industrial, process and materials handling systems, the trend in the digital scales, gages, rotary encoders and other devices used to detect position, force and angle is towards higher speeds and precisions. Accordingly, the same level of speed and precision is required by the input interfaces used in the controllers to which these sensors are connected.
 The CNT32-4MT(LPCI) board meets this demand for higher speed and greater precision with 32-bit counters that can be used with high-speed pulse inputs at up to 10MHz (50% duty).
 A feature of the board is the range of operation modes that are available to suit the different purposes to which the board can be put. These include a mode in which the count can be read directly from the device in realtime and that is intended for feedback counter applications in control systems, and a periodic sampling mode intended for measurement system applications that uses the bus master transfer function.
 Although the input interface uses non-isolated TTL inputs, the board can also support voltage differential line driver outputs by using the differential/TTL input conversion terminal for counter inputs (sold separately, model: CTP-4D).
 The CNT32-4MT(LPCI) complies with JEITA (Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association) lead-free level Phase 2.

[ Features ]
  • Can input two-phase and single-phase signals.
  • Can input pulse signals up to 10MHz and can resolve phase differences as short as 25nsec.
  • Can be converted to a differential input interface using the differential unit (CTP-4D) and connection cable (CNT-68M/50M) which are sold separately.
