Contec Co. Ltd., a manufacturer of PC peripherals, industrial computers, and network equipment, has added the AD16-64(LPCI)LA, a new multi-channel type board with 64 analog input channels, to its well-regarded "Low-Cost/Multi-Function L-Series" range of analog I/O devices which feature multi-function operation and low cost. Sales of this new instrument control component for PCs are scheduled to commence from December 22nd.

AD16-64(LPCI)LA |
The "Low-Cost/Multi-Function L-Series" is well regarded for providing multi-function operation at low cost, incorporating digital I/O and a 32-bit counter in addition to high-resolution analog I/O, and the new AD16-64(LPCI)LA model also incorporates the same features. The new model is a PCI bus interface board that supports high-resolution 16-bit analog input with 64 channels when used as single-ended inputs and 32 channels when used as differential inputs. Together with its multi-channel and multi-function capabilities, the board uses the Low Profile size and enables analog signal measurement systems with a large number of channels to be implemented at low cost.
The new board not only comes with drivers (APIs) for program development on both Windows and Linux, but is also bundled with a range of data collection and analysis utilities. These include CONTEC's fully-featured C-LOGGER data logger software (included at no extra charge*, available for free download), the ML-DAQ library for using the board as a DAQ board in MATLAB Data Acquisition Toolbox, and the VI-DAQ library for using the board from LabVIEW. This software is available for free download from the CONTEC web site.
The new board is also sensitive to the environment and complies with the JEITA (Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association) lead free level phase 2.
* Included on the supplied CD-ROM mAPI-PAC(W32)n from Feb 2006.
| [ Low-Cost, Multi-Function L-Series ]
The L-Series is a range of multi-function and low-cost analog I/O devices that feature digital input and output functions (4 channels each) and a counter function (32-bit, 1 channel) in addition to high-resolution 16-bit analog I/O. The series includes a total of 10 variants with different numbers of analog I/O channels, bus isolation, and bus specifications to suit different applications. Features of the analog I/O function include synchronizing with an external signal or performing periodic sampling using an internal timer. The boards include internal buffer memory and the Low Profile PCI models can also be used in standard PCI slots by changing the bracket.

The selection of the single-ended input and the difference input can be set with software.
- Rich set of basic functions
Compact system providing high-precision analog inputs.
Equipped with analog inputs, analog input control signals (TTL, 3ch), digital inputs (TTL, 4ch), digital outputs (TTL, 4ch), and counter (TTL 32-bit, 1ch).
- Substantial control functions
Capable of analog input either time-based mode or external-signal synchronous mode.
- Filter function facilitating external signal connection
The external control signals for analog input incorporate a digital filter to prevent problems such as chattering.
