March 1, 2007 -CONTEC, a leading manufacturer of computer peripheral equipment, industrial computers and network devices, today announced the release of its new low cost PCI bus compatible RS-232C serial communication boards.
The new PCI-compliant RS-232C serial communication boards are available with either two [COM-2CL-PCI] or four [COM-4CL-PCI] ports to expand RS-232C serial communication functionality on your PC. These new boards were designed with minimum additional functions and are lower in cost when compared to CONTEC’s existing RS-232C products; COM-2(PCI)H and COM-4(PCI)H.
COM-2CL-PCI has the same 9-pin D-SUB connector as a personal computer, allowing it to connect directly with using RS-232C-compliant 9-pin D-SUB cables. COM-4CL-PCI is connected by using an RS-232C-compliant 9-pin D-SUB to 4 channel distribution cable. Each individual channel has FIFO buffer memory (transmission: 64 bytes, reception: 64 bytes), allowing the CPU load to be reduced during high-speed communication or data transmission. Both boards are compatible with up to 230,400bps communication (max).
The supplied COM driver software “Com Setup Disk”, allows these boards to be used as standard serial ports when used in a Windows® environment. Up to 16 boards can be used in a single system with an access range from COM1 to COM256.
CONTEC’s COM-2CL-PCI and COM-4CL-PCI are lead-free (exceeding JEITA Phase 2 requirements) and RoHS-compliant.
