Today, April 2, 2019, Contec Co., Ltd. (listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, Securities Code: 6639—hereinafter “Contec”) has confirmed as part of its RoHS compliance activities that 90% or more of its products*1 are in compliance with RoHS directive (EU)2015/863 (hereinafter “RoHS2”) scheduled to go into effect on July 22, 2019. We plan to complete confirmation of RoHS2 compliance for all products*1 by July, 2019.
Contec performs environmental conservation activities based on ISO 14001 standards for environmental management systems and is proactive in reducing or eliminating the use of environmentally hazardous substances in our products. In response to RoHS directive 2002/95/EC (hereinafter “RoHS1”) enforcement in 2006, we began sales of RoHS1-compliant products in 2005, with all products becoming RoHS1-compliant in 2008. In 2017, we started compliance activities for RoHS2, which is based on EU amendment (EU) 2015/863 made on June 4, 2015, by stopping use of 10 types of environmentally hazardous substances and plan for all products*1 on sale on the directive’s enforcement date of July 22, 2019, or those whose sales will start following that date, to be compliant with RoHS2 as well.
As of today, April 2, 2019, RoHS2-compliant products on Contec’s website (contec.com) will be marked as follows. The same markings will also be used for identification in catalogs and brochures.
