New modular panel PC design combines advanced PCAP touch technology, IP65-front rated ingress protection, IEC-60068-2-6 shock and vibration resistance, and best-in-class screen brightness for superior performance in a variety of industrial environments.

 

Contec, a global electronics manufacturer, has launched a new line of rugged panel PCs uniquely suited for industrial applications in the modern factory. With the advent of Industry 4.0, manufacturers are under increasing pressure to optimize factory operations. This shift has resulted in an increased need for reliability, flexibility, and serviceability in machine control / human-machine-interface (HMI) technology. To address this need, Contec has developed a new line of modular “all-in-one” systems that combine a high performance, energy-efficient computer with advanced touch screen display technology. Additional features like shock and vibration resistance, sealed front bezel, and industry-leading display brightness, make the PT-S2000 and PT-S959 series well suited for industrial automation, machine control/HMI, transportation, metal extrusion, CNC machining, and other industrial uses.

The modular design and customizable configuration were engineered to provide today’s IPC users with the flexibility and serviceability needed for most factory and industrial automation applications. The PT-S2000 is powered by the 6th Generation (Skylake) Intel Core i5-6300U CPU, offering more computing power, faster data processing and a 40% boost to graphics performance over previous processor generations. An Intel Celeron option is also available. The PT-S959 is powered by Intel® Atom® E3845 (Baytrail) Processor. Some of the additional configuration options include SSD storage up to 512 GB, memory up to 32 GB, the latest PCAP touch or traditional 5-wire resistive, and Microsoft Windows 7 or Windows 10 operating systems.

We’ve selected the Intel® Skylake Core-i U processor and Baytrail Atom™ processors for optimal performance with minimal power requirement, long product life cycle support (both CPU families offer a 15-year product life support from launch date) as well as guaranteed compatibility with Window embedded 7 OS platform, of which, many of our industrial OEM partners are still using.” The combination of durability, flexibility and serviceability make these systems a great fit for a wide range of applications, said Toews.
