Contec Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nishi-yodogawa-ku, Osaka; President: Akira Ikari) has developed an industrial embedded computer with a GPU card that is ideal for edge AI. It plans to begin accepting orders in late April 2023 for the EPC-C5000A series (hereafter "new product") in a BTO (build-to-order) format that allows users to select the component parts that best suit their applications.

In the industrial sector, IoT and 5G communication technologies are used to collect detailed field (on-site) data in real time. AI technology is transforming its business model into one that can adapt quickly to changing circumstances. Digital transformation (DX) is indeed gaining momentum.

The new product is an industrial edge AI computer with a BTO lineup of models equipped with the NVIDIA RTX A2000 12GB GPU card. It is powered by a 10th generation Intel® Xeon W-1290TE / Core i7-10700TE / Core i5-10500TE processor, and runs on the Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2021 LTSC OS, with extended support from Microsoft until January 2032. In addition, by taking AC cable routing into consideration, the sides of the unit are designed to prevent interference with walls and equipment, making it a suitable candidate for installation within equipment or in confined spaces.

• Compatible with 10th generation CPU Intel® Xeon® W/Core™ processor series Comet Lake

  Available with a high-performance 10th generation Xeon® processor or power-saving, high-performance 10th generation Core™ processor. Reliable supply is ensured by the adoption of embedded CPUs.

• NVIDIA GPU card selectable

  Models equipped with a GPU card will come with an NVIDIA GPU card in the expansion slot. This card can be used for expanded screen output options and data server applications thanks to advanced computing power.

• Rich variety of interfaces for freely expandable peripherals

  This product is equipped with a variety of expansion interfaces such as VGA, HDMI, DisplayPort, LAN × 3, USB 3.2 Gen 2 × 6, serial (RS-232C/RS-422A/RS-485) × 1, audio, and power switching signal connector. This makes it possible to use this product in a variety of situations.

• Power Failure Protection system for reliable operation with no OS shutdown required

  The Power Failure Protection system protects data and prohibits writing to storage in the event of a power failure. When used together with the Windows IoT Enterprise lockdown (disk write suppression) feature, power can be safely turned off even without performing a shutdown process. This also helps prevent corruption of the file system and data due to sudden power loss.
