Contec Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nishi-yodogawa-ku, Osaka; President: Kazuyoshi Nishiyama) has developed the BX-M540 Series BOX Computer, a line of fanless embedded PCs with Intel Atom® x7000RE Series processors. Contec began taking orders for these new products today.

These new compact industrial embedded computers are the top-end models of Contec’s Intel Atom®–equipped devices and feature a CPU with an embedded Intel Atom® x7835RE processor that delivers low power consumption and high 8-core performance.
Multi-thread performance is about 1.8 times^*2 higher than Contec’s previous model with an Intel Atom® x6413E (Elkhart Lake), and about 1.6 times^*3 higher than the previous model with an 8th Gen. Intel® Core™ i3 (Whiskey Lake-U), ensuring stable fanless operation in various applications.

Despite its high performance and power-saving features, the A5-sized, compact chassis (189 (W) × 147.8 (D) × 61.5 (H) [mm] ) boasts a 2.5GBASE-T port, two 1000BASE-T ports, four USB 3.2 (Gen 2) ports, general-purpose I/O ports, two legacy device connection ports, an RS-232C/422A/485 interface, and much more.

Models with functions designed for industrial applications, such as the Power Failure Protection™ system^*4 for reliable operation without the need for shutdown, are also available. These models are ideal for embedded inspection equipment, medical devices, and other industrial applications.

Main Features

• Reductions in running costs and energy usage

  The new series uses the low power consumption Intel Atom processor platform to achieve low power consumption while still providing sufficient performance. Reliable supply is also ensured by the adoption of an embedded CPU.

• Fanless design that reduces maintenance and inspection operations

  By adopting a spindleless design with no CPU fan, this series prevents dust and foreign materials from entering the system and reduces the use of components that deteriorate with age as much as possible, greatly reducing maintenance and inspection burdens.

• Power Failure Protection™ system for reliable operation with no OS shutdown required^*4

  The Power Failure Protection™ system protects data and prohibits writing to storage in the event of a power failure. When used together with the Windows 11 IoT Enterprise lockdown (disk write suppression) feature, power can be safely turned off even without performing a shutdown process. This also helps prevent corruption of the file system and data due to sudden power loss.

• Extremely compact space-saving PC

  The space-saving design(189(W)×147.8(D)×61.5(H) [mm] ), Installation is possible with a small installation area.

• Convenient utilities based on Contec’s originally designed BIOS

  The product is equipped with utilities based on Contec’s original and convenient BIOS. ^*5

• Rich variety of interfaces for easy connection to various peripheral devices

  In addition to HDMI, USB-C, 2.5Gb LAN, USB 3.2 Gen2(USB 3.1), the BX-M540 Series also includes RS-232C/422A/485 and one DIO port.

• Removal prevention fittings and securing cable ties to prevent problems caused by cable disconnections

  The securing cable ties help prevent disconnections of USB cables and other connectors that are not equipped with locking mechanisms, making it possible to prevent problems from occurring.
