Community Outreach Spotlight: Keep Brevard Beautiful

Japan、Africa、Asia、Europe、Middle East、North America、Oceania、Latin America

In addition to supporting the people of our community through philanthropies like Habitat for Humanity and Meals on Wheels, Contec believes in the importance of preserving our environment for future generations. In 2015, Contec employee volunteers joined forces with Keep Brevard Beautiful to help keep our community clean and support the growth of local business and tourism.

“Helping to keep Brevard County beautiful is about more than just picking up trash. By keeping the community clean we are not only helping to preserve the environment for the next generation but also encouraging new local businesses and tourists to come to our community.”

Adopt-a-Road Program

Keep Brevard Beautiful’s Adopt-a-Road program, allows members of the community to “adopt” an area of roadway in the County and take responsibility for reducing and controlling litter in that area. Contec has committed to a four mile stretch on Hibiscus Road near Contec’s global headquarters in Melbourne, Florida.

“I really love getting out there with our team to keep our adopted road clean. Not only do we feel like we're making a difference in the community but we have an opportunity to get to know fellow employees on a more personal level. It’s a win-win.”

The Numbers Say it All

Over 250 million tons of trash is generated by Americans every year, with $11.5 billion spent on cleaning it up. As this is a preventative issue, organizations like Keep Brevard Beautiful not only create a cleaner environment, but can potentially save the county money which can be dispersed in other areas.

In Brevard alone, there are over 31,000 Keep Brevard Beautiful beach cleanups, over 28,000 staff and volunteer hours, and over 570,000 pounds of trash collected.
