Contec Co., Ltd. has developed two models for its BX-T3020 Series of fanless embedded BOX Computers, both equipped with an 8th-generation Intel® Celeron® processor (Whiskey Lake-U). Contec began taking orders for the new models on July 17, 2024.
BX-T3020
Featuring an 8th-generation Intel® Celeron® processor (Whiskey Lake-U), these new fanless, slitless embedded computer models feature an extremely compact design (178 (W) × 115 (D) × 29 (H) mm), making them only about as big as a small-sized paperback book.
The various interfaces have also been optimized, and the computer’s physical dimensions match those of the current BX-220 Series BOX Computer.
The models include a wide variety of expandable interfaces for industrial applications, including a DisplayPort, an HDMI port, four USB 3.2 Gen 2 (USB 3.1) ports, two LAN ports, and an RS-232C/422/485 port.
Meanwhile, the Power Failure Protection™ system ensures reliable operation without the need for shutdown.
Both models can be used in a variety of applications, including IoT gateways, industrial control systems, digital signage/kiosk terminals/vending machines, and medical equipment.
Main Features
- Extremely compact space-saving PC about as big as a small-sized paperback book
The space-saving design (178 (W) × 115 (D) × 29 (H) mm) allows for installation even in compact areas.
- Power Failure Protection™ system for reliable operation with no OS shutdown required
The Power Failure Protection™ system protects data and prohibits writing to storage in the event of a power failure.
When used together with the Windows 10 IoT Enterprise lockdown (disk write suppression) feature, power can be safely turned off even without performing a shutdown process.
This also helps prevent corruption of the file system and data due to sudden power loss.
- High-security design contributing to a reliable system
This series features TPM2.0 and secure boot security functions as well as Contec’s proprietary USB boot protection, and is designed with the security required for industrial applications.
- Reductions in running costs and energy usage
The products use a low-power-consumption, 8th-generation Intel® CPU processor for reduced power consumption while still providing sufficient performance.
- Fanless design that reduces maintenance and inspection operations
By adopting a spindleless design with no CPU fan, this series prevents dust and foreign materials from entering the system and reduces the use of components that deteriorate with age as much as possible, greatly reducing maintenance and inspection burdens.
- Removal prevention fittings and securing cable ties to prevent problems caused by cable disconnections
The securing cable ties help prevent disconnections of USB cables and other connectors that are not equipped with locking mechanisms, making it possible to prevent problems from occurring.
