Contec Co., Ltd. has developed the new VPC-4100 Series, a line of 19-inch 3U rack-mount industrial computers for highly reliable edge computing applications in the manufacturing and social infrastructure sectors. This new series is designed to address the growing need for improved maintenance and system resilience. Contec began taking orders for the new product in October 2026.

The new VPC-4100 Series supports 12th Generation Intel^® Celeron^® and 13th Generation Intel^® Core™ processors to deliver high processing performance. It also provides up to four PCI Express and PCI expansion slots. The flexible expansion capability allows GPUs and a wide range of I/O cards to be installed, making it possible to build an optimal system configuration for demanding applications such as AI visual inspection and image processing.

The new series also features redundant hot-swappable power supplies for enhanced system resilience and a chassis design that allows maintenance from one side. These features make it an ideal edge computing platform for long-term, stable operation.

Main Features

• High-availability design that minimizes downtime
  The VPC-4100 Series comes standard with dual 550 W redundant power supplies to maintain operation even if one power supply fails. The hot-swappable power supply units can also be replaced without shutting down the system
  These features reduce the risk of production line downtime, shorten maintenance time, and lower operating costs through improved uptime, delivering significant value in mission-critical environments.
• Flexible chassis design and excellent maintainability for on-site applications
  Two chassis types are available to match different installation environments and application requirements: the front-access type and the standard type. Especially on the front-access type, all interfaces and storage devices are accessible from the front, allowing maintenance without removing the system from the rack.
  This reduces on-site workload, shortens maintenance time, and minimizes equipment downtime.
• Storage design that combines data protection with operational efficiency
  Hardware RAID (RAID 1 mirroring) protects data in the event of storage-device failure.
  The removable storage design enables quick replacement, and hot-swap support allows storage devices to be serviced without stopping system operation.
• Rich interfaces that combine high performance with expandability
  The new VPC-4100 Series is equipped with a wide range of interfaces, including two 2.5GBASE-T ports, one 1000BASE-T port, four USB 3.2 Gen2 (USB 3.1) ports, two USB 3.2 Gen1 (USB 3.0) ports, and one RS-232C serial port.
• Improved visibility and usability with multi-display support
  With DVI-I, HDMI, and DisplayPort outputs that support up to three displays, the series enables multi-screen display of monitoring and control applications for improved visibility and increased on-site operational efficiency.
