Contec Co., Ltd. has developed new models with two expansion slots for its BX-M4600 Series of fanless embedded BOX Computers. Contec has added a two-slot PCI Express model and a two-slot PCI model to its lineup, and will start taking orders for the new models on March 4, 2025.

The new products are the top-of-the-line high-performance models in the fanless BOX Computer BX Series, featuring 12th/13th-generation Intel Core processor (Alder Lake-S/Raptor Lake-S), a high-power CPU for desktop PCs, and are equipped with expansion slots.

Equipped with either two PCI Express (x8) slots or two PCI slots, the new products are ideal for embedded inspection equipment that use measurement control cards and for migration of legacy systems.

Main Features

• 13th-generation Core i7/i5/i3 and 12th-generation Celeron processors

  The BX-M4600 Series is equipped with power-saving and high-performance CPUs, providing advanced computing and graphical performance even with minimal power requirements. Reliable supply is ensured by the adoption of embedded CPUs.

• Power Failure Protection™ system for reliable operation with no OS shutdown required^*2 (Japanese model)

  The Power Failure Protection™ system protects data and prohibits writing to storage in the event of a power failure. When used together with the Windows 10 IoT Enterprise lockdown (disk write suppression) feature, power can be safely turned off even without performing a shutdown process. This also helps prevent corruption of the file system and data due to sudden power loss.

• Convenient utilities based on Contec’s originally designed BIOS

  The products are equipped with utilities^*3 based on Contec’s original and convenient BIOS.

• Fanless design that reduces maintenance and inspection operations

  By adopting a spindleless design with no CPU fan, this series prevents dust and foreign materials from entering the system and reduces the use of components that deteriorate with age as much as possible, greatly reducing maintenance and inspection burdens.

• Rich variety of interfaces for freely expandable peripherals

  Equipped with an expandable interface including DVI-I ×1, DisplayPort ×1, 1000BASE-T ×2, USB 3.2 Gen2 (USB 3.1) ×4, USB 2.0 ×2, serial (RS-232C) ×4, and DIO ×1.

• Removal prevention fittings and securing cable ties to prevent problems caused by cable disconnections

  The securing cable ties help prevent disconnections of USB cables and other connectors that are not equipped with locking mechanisms, making it possible to prevent problems from occurring.
