Failure to Boot with Certain Firmware Versions on NVIDIA Jetson Edge AI Computers DX Series

Thank you for your continued support of our company products. It has been confirmed that certain firmware versions of the NVIDIA Jetson edge AI computer DX series may cause boot failures. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and inconvenience caused.

Defect Summary

  • Incident   : No boot. Recovery is required.
  • Cause    : Malfunction caused by the boot loader program provided by NVIDIA
  • Conditions  : This problem can occur if the main power is lost without normal shutdown procedures.
  • Frequency  : Rarely (less than 1%)

Countermeasures

Take one of the following corrective actions:

  • Countermeasure method 1 (recommended)
    Update all areas including the NVMe SSD or eMMC to firmware with the countermeasure completed using the OS installation image.
  • Countermeasure method 2 (To retain data)
    Use the QSPI Flash update image file to update the firmware to the firmware with the protection for the boot area only.
    If you use the QSPI Flash update image file to update the firmware, the data in the NVMe SSD and eMMC is not deleted.
