Contec today began accepting orders for Japan-market models of its VPC-1800 Series factory automation (FA) computers pre-installed with Enterprise Pack for AlmaLinux*1 from Cybertrust Japan Co., Ltd. The new models meet customer needs for reviewing their Linux infrastructure after the end of CentOS and for SBOM compliance. This offering delivers a one-stop solution that combines FA computers capable of long-term, stable operation with a secure industrial Linux environment.
Enterprise pack for AlmaLinux × VPC-1800
Enterprise Pack for AlmaLinux is a commercial Linux operating system based on AlmaLinux, which is compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). It provides additional features for provisioning and updating software bills of materials (SBOMs)*2 to meet requirements in industries such as manufacturing and critical infrastructure that use open-source software (OSS).
In addition, the VPC-1800 Series consists of FA computers designed for long-term supply and maintenance, making them ideal for control and inspection equipment in factories, social infrastructure, and other critical facilities.
By combining the Enterprise Pack for AlmaLinux, which enables you to build a cost-effective commercial Linux environment, with the VPC-1800 Series of industrial computers, designed for 24-hour continuous operation, the solution provides a reliable platform even for systems that require long-term, stable operation.
Furthermore, Contec is certified under IEC 62443-4-1, the international standard for cybersecurity in industrial automation and control systems (IACS), and has established and implemented a product development process that incorporates security considerations. By combining this secure development process with SBOM-enabled visualization of the software components, we help customers maintain security over the long term.
Main Features
-
VPC-1800 Series—ideal for industrial applications
Equipped with 12th-generation Intel® Celeron® processors (or 13th-generation Intel® Core™ processors), DDR5 memory, removable storage, RAID 1, and PCI/PCI Express expansion slots, the solution is designed for 24-hour continuous operation. For the Japanese market, customers can also opt for up to seven years of on-site maintenance.
-
Embedded-use license for Enterprise Pack for AlmaLinux
The embedded-use license for Enterprise Pack for AlmaLinux includes technical support, bulk SBOM provisioning and update capabilities, as well as update support covering update notifications, version upgrades, patch modules, and errata information. These services are available until the end of the standard support period for AlmaLinux 9, which ends on May 31, 2032. After the end of the standard support period, customers can purchase Extended Lifecycle Support (ELS) separately to receive security fixes for critical vulnerabilities for up to an additional six years.
-
SBOM-enabled visualization of software components
MLSBOMUTILS from Cybertrust is pre-installed, enabling users to generate SBOMs in the industry-standard SPDX (XML/JSON/YAML) and CycloneDX (XML/JSON) formats. The generated SBOMs can be used with SBOM-compatible vulnerability management tools, such as Cybertrust's MIRACLE Vul Hammer, as well as various SBOM management systems, enabling more efficient management of software components and vulnerabilities.
-
Secure development process based on IEC 62443-4-1
Contec is certified under IEC 62443-4-1, an international standard covering secure development processes throughout the entire product lifecycle, including product planning, design, development, testing, maintenance, and vulnerability response. This model also incorporates Contec's established secure development principles, along with SBOM provisioning and updates as well as support services, to help customers maintain security throughout long-term operation.
