Contec has developed the new AI-1204Z-PE analog input card, featuring a conversion speed of 10 MSPS, 12-bit resolution, and PCI Express bus compatibility. This new product was released for sale on June 30, 2020.
AI-1204Z-PE
The new PCI Express bus-compliant interface card converts analog signal inputs to digital signals (AD conversion). The AI-1204Z-PE is capable of simultaneous sampling of 4 channels at a maximum conversion speed of 10 MSPS (100 nsec), and the device’s bus master transfer function enables continuous data acquisition at high speeds for extended periods.
Functional compatibility with the conventional PCI bus-compliant model (AI-1204Z-PCI) means the device can be used as is without changing the application. The connector shape and signal arrangement are also compatible, enabling easy migration from a conventional system.
With the continued transition from 32-bit versions to 64-bit versions of Windows, specifications on the OS side mean 64-bit versions are able to secure only a small amount of buffer memory for data transfers (1 MB or 2 MB), preventing the DMA transfer function from being utilized to its full potential. The AI-1204Z-PE’s native compatibility with both PCI Express and 64-bit OS versions enable improved performance with a bus master transfer rate up to 4.5 times faster than before, and a large-capacity transferrable memory allocation of up to 2GB. This eliminates data transfer bottlenecks, doubles the infinite sampling speed, and enables continuous data acquisition at the full 10 MSPS.
Simultaneous sampling of 4 channels is possible at a maximum conversion speed of 10 MSPS (100 nsec). The range can be set for each channel according to the level of the input signal source using software (input ranges: ±10 V, ±5 V, ±2.5 V, ±1.25 V, 0 to 10 V, 0 to 5 V, 0 to 2.5 V). The device is also equipped with digital inputs/outputs (four LVTTL level input/outputs).
Sampling start and end control options include software, conversion data comparison, external triggers, and event controller outputs. With completely independent controls for starting or stopping sampling, each control can be set individually. A sampling count end setting is also available. Conversion data comparison includes conversion data level comparison, conversion data in-range comparison, and conversion data out-range comparison.
The AI-1204Z-PE is equipped with a connector that allows for synchronous control of up to 16 cards with expansion in 4-channel units using the included cable. Synchronous operation with other Contec cards equipped with a synchronous control connector is also easy.
The device’s bus master transfer function enables continuous data acquisition at high speeds for extended periods. The function makes it possible to transfer large amounts of data between the PC and the card. Take advantage of DMA transfers in 64-bit OS environments with no memory capacity limitations.
Analog input terminals use BNC connectors boasting a characteristic impedance of 50 Ω, often used for high-speed transmission of analog signals. Easily connect to signal source devices equipped with a BNC connector.
