As digitalization progressed, industrial equipment platforms shifted to a combination of general-purpose devices and general-purpose operating systems, and it became commonplace to connect to networks using general-purpose protocols. On the other hand, due to the diversification of cyberattacks, the number of cases where industrial equipment is targeted is increasing, and there is a movement to make security measures mandatory.
McAfee whitelist type is a security countermeasure that registers in advance the list of programs and codes that are permitted to execute and blocks execution of unregistered programs and codes. It prevents malicious program execution and protects embedded PC from zero-day malware attacks. Effective against attacks aimed at vulnerabilities prior to the release of countermeasures and corrected programs (zero-day attacks), these new models offer useful security countermeasures for industrial equipment against diversified cyberattacks.
