Contec has developed a new expansion slot addition box (1 model) for personal computers, the ECH-PCI-DE2-F4B PCI Express Extension-type PCI Bus Expansion Chassis, which went on sale on November 21, 2023.

This new expansion chassis makes it possible to add four PCI bus slots using a PCI Express bus slot in a computer. The computer and this expansion chassis can be connected using a separately available expansion bus adapter (EAD-DE-LPE).

In recent years, computers have moved away from including long-size (full-size) PCI bus slots, making it difficult to use the long-size PCI boards that have proven useful in on-site applications. Contec’s PCI Express Extension-type PCI Bus Expansion Chassis makes it possible to use long-size PCI bus boards from the computer’s PCI Express slot, allowing for the continued use of existing system assets.

The ECH-PCI-DE2-F4B can be used to add four long-size PCI boards and can be turned on or off in conjunction with the computer. The steel chassis also includes a cooling fan, making it suitable for on-site applications.

• Adds 4 PCI slots to a computer

  Up to 4 long-size [313.8 (L) × 107 (H) mm] PCI bus boards can be added.

• Power can be turned on/off in conjunction with the connected computer

  The power of the expansion chassis can be turned on or off in conjunction with the power of the connected computer.

• Steel chassis with built-in cooling fan

  The steel chassis and built-in cooling fan make it possible to use the ECH-PCI-DE2-F4B in on-site applications.

• Supports a wide range of power supplies (10.8 to 31.2 VDC)

  This product supports 10.8 to 31.2 VDC power supplies for use in a wide range of power supply environments. An AC adapter (PWA-160AWD2) is available separately.
