Contec has developed a new communication unit that enables CAN communication from a PC via Wi-Fi (Wireless LAN) and USB. Sales of the new CAN-2-WF began on August 29, 2024.
CAN-2-WF
This product is a converter unit that expands the CAN communication function via wireless LAN or USB. The unit complies with CAN 2.0B communication standards and supports communication speeds of up to 1 Mbps. It includes a USB Type-C port and can operate via a USB connection. Support for the SAE J2534 protocol also allows for use as a communication interface during automobile maintenance diagnosis and ECU programming.
The CAN-2-WF can expand the 2-channel CAN communication function to a PC. The unit complies with the CAN 2.0B communication standard and supports communication speeds of up to 1 Mbps. Each channel is controlled by a separate CAN controller, allowing for independent communication that is not dependent on the status of other channels.
The CAN-2-WF complies with four IEEE 802.11n/a/g/b standards for wireless LAN and with Japanese, US, Canadian, EU, and UK standards for use in various countries.
Compliance with the USB 2.0/USB 1.1 standard allows for operation over a USB connection with USB bus power and no external power supply is needed.
When not operating under USB bus power, the CAN-2-WF supports a wide range of external power supplies, from 10 to 32 VDC.
Windows applications can be created using the device driver API-TOOL provided on the Contec website.
