Contec has developed the new Wi-Fi 6–compliant FLEXLAN FXA5020-CN and FXS5000-CN wireless LAN access points with mesh Wi-Fi and smart roaming for “Continuous wireless LAN” for use in China. Contec will begin taking orders for these new products in mid-October 2024

Model Product Name
FXA5020-CN Wireless Access Point with External Antennas [For China] (Master station/Slave station/Relay station)
FXS5000-CN Wireless LAN Converter [For China] (Master station/Slave station/Relay station)

These new wireless LAN access points are compliant with the new Wi-Fi 6 (IEEE 802.11ax) wireless LAN standard, and the adoption of OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access), MU-MIMO (Multi-User MIMO), and Spatial Reuse technologies allow for even faster communication speeds. Throughput degradation and delays common when using numerous slave stations at once have also been significantly reduced.

The ability to equip the FXA5020-CN with either the included antennas or various other optional antennas makes it possible to build systems specifically suited to the usage environment. Meanwhile, the FXS5000-CN utilizes a built-in antenna for a compact design that helps save space in embedded applications.
These new products were developed in pursuit of “Continuous wireless LAN” and are equipped with mesh Wi-Fi and smart roaming functionality for a stable wireless communication environment even in systems with a large number of mobile devices. This makes the FXA5020-CN and FXS5000-CN suitable for environments where high reliability is required, such as semiconductor manufacturing applications, food factories, distribution centers, and medical settings.

Main Features

  • High-speed, low-latency Wi-Fi 6 (IEEE 802.11ax) communication

With data transmission and reception speeds reaching over 1 Gbps, effective throughput is significantly faster than Wi-Fi 5’s 800 Mbps (1.2 times faster). Adoption of new technologies such as OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) and MU-MIMO (Multi-User MIMO) have also helped significantly reduce throughput degradation and delays common when using numerous slave stations at once.

  • Usable as a station (slave station), access point (master station), or repeater (relay station)

By switching the operation mode, this product can be used as not only a station (slave station) but also as an access point (master station) or a repeater (relay station). The dual station function also allows for simultaneous use through 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz interfaces.

  • Featuring WSL proprietary encryption technology usable in combination with WPA3, WPA2, WPA, and WEP

In addition to certifications for advanced WPA3/WPA2/WPA and IEEE 802.1X security standards, these products are also equipped with Contec’s proprietary “WSL” encryption technology, which can be used at the same time. MAC address filtering and ESSID hiding are also supported.

  • Wide variety of functions, including VLAN and virtual AP

These products are equipped with VLAN functionality for constructing virtual networks, and virtual AP functionality for operating one AP as multiple virtual APs with different security settings. Saving of large-capacity event logs is also possible. * VLAN functionality will be supported in a future firmware version upgrade.
