Can be used over a wide range of temperatures (−20 to 60°C). New Product Release: Compact Embedded Switching HUB for IoT/M2M with Excellent Environmental Resistance

CONTEC Co., Ltd. (listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, Securities Code: 6639) has developed a compact embedded switching HUB (model: SH-8008F) that can be used over a wide range of temperatures (−20 to 60°C). The new network peripheral branded "FLEXLAN™" will be sold from December 13.

Wide-temperature-range-supported embedded switching HUB SH-8008F

This new product (model: SH-8008F) is a compact switching HUB that complies with the IEEE802.3u (100BASE-TX) and IEEE802.3 (10BASE-T) standards. It is designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -20 to 60°C and in adverse environments where general-purpose switching HUBs cannot typically be used.

Many communication devices that use Ethernet as a physical layer and data link layer are used in devices such as control boards and machine equipment in factory production lines. There is an increasing need for switching hubs that can connect multiple Ethernet devices at manufacturing sites. There are also new needs such as retrofitting monitoring equipment in order to create an IoT-ready infrastructure as well as opening new communication channels linking superordinate and subordinate systems. This new industrial switching HUB with excellent environmental resistance meets these needs.

With a width of 40 mm and a depth of 60 mm, this product is 32% more compact than the conventional product (SH-8008(FIT)H). It was designed to reduce the space it occupies on the board and simplify cable wiring. In addition, as an industrial equipment, it is equipped with many functions (fanless structure of the metal shell, dual power supply, power supply reverse-wiring protection, etc.) to improve system availability.

Main features of the wide-temperature-range embedded switching HUB SH-8008F

• Eight ports compatible with 100BASE-TX in a compact format

  The switching HUB comes in a compact enclosure [40 (W) × 60 (D) × 90 (H) mm] and is equipped with eight ports that comply with the IEEE802.3u (100BASE-TX) and IEEE802.3 (10BASE-T) standards.

• Built-in dual power supply and protection circuit against reverse wiring

  Power supply can be wired in two different ways. Even if there is a problem with the power supply on one of the connections, the HUB can still be operated. The HUB also features a safety design that will ensure it operates correctly even if power supply is wired the wrong way around.

• Ambient temperatures of -20 to +60°C

  This product can be used in various environments with ambient temperatures of -20 to +60°C.

• Auto MDI/MDI-X and auto-negotiation functions supported

  Because the Auto MDI/MDI-X function automatically detects straight and cross cables, wiring problems due to connection mistakes can be avoided. Moreover, the HUB is equipped with a function that automatically recognizes communication speed and mode (10/100 Mbps, full/half duplex) using auto-negotiation.

• Can be mounted on a DIN rail

  The HUB originally has a mechanism that enables 35 mm DIN rail mounting for easy installation on a board.

• Supports a wide range of power supplies (12 to 24 VDC)

  This product supports 12 to 24-VDC power supplies, and can therefore be used in a wide range of power supply environments. In addition, the power supply connectors include FG terminals.
