Overview / Features

The COM-2(PC)F is an IBM PC/AT ISA-Bus add-on interface board for multi-channel RS-232C asynchronous communications. It features two serial communication ports and a programmable communication rate ranging from 50 to 115,200 bps for communication or modem control.

  • Compatible mode (COM 1-4)
    • It is the mode which assigns and uses two channels for a personal computer standard serial port (COM1-COM4). One IRQ level is required for each channel. Since it is treated as a standard serial port, software other than the support software of non-PlugPlay OS or CONTEC can also be operated.
  • Enhanced mode
    • Control two channels by one interruption level at an enhanced mode. It can operate, even when there is only one interruption level which can be used with the personal computer of use. Moreover, an I/O Address uses the original address of CONTEC. Therefore, it is necessary to make driver software himself, using CONTEC driver software (option). Programming of an enhanced mode differs from the compatible mode.
