Do I need to provide a touch driver with my Windows OEM device?
Touch sensor/controller drivers are typically required for x86 computer systems running any operating system (OS) that predates Windows 7. In the Windows 7 release, Microsoft introduced Windows Touch which allows USB connected touch devices to use the Human Interface Device (HID) protocol to communicate with Windows. Because Windows 7 and its successors include a HID driver, you do not need to install one for touch operation. However, if you want to calibrate your touch sensor you will need to install the manufacturer's driver. You can learn more about Windows touch and multi-touch functionality at the Microsoft website.
